The Airbus aircraft used for international trips by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other high-ranking officials returned to its home base in Poland after a visit to Moldova.
The plane’s return came amid rumors of alleged diplomatic misunderstandings related to the UPA. At the same time, the aircraft arrived back at the Polish airport where it had been stationed recently.
This flight dispelled rumors about a possible relocation of the permanent base of Ukraine’s Air Force One to Chisinau due to political disputes with Warsaw.
Flight Details
The movement of the aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian state airline “Ukraine” was recorded on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Following a series of recent foreign visits by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the plane flew from Chisinau to Krakow, Poland, early in the morning.
The plane had transported a Ukrainian delegation to the Moldovan capital following the conclusion of the important NB8 (Nordic-Baltic Eight) international summit held in Tallinn.
Why rumors of a conflict with Poland arose
Last weekend, speculation emerged in the media about a change in the permanent base for Zelenskyy’s plane. The reason was that the Ukrainian president flew on an official visit to the United Kingdom from Chisinau, although he had previously regularly used the airport in Rzeszów, Poland.
Given the recent escalation of diplomatic disputes between Kyiv and Warsaw over the naming of one of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ units after a UPA figure, analysts speculated that the change in airport for foreign visits had a political explanation and constituted a demonstrative rejection of Polish logistics.
However, the plane’s recent flight to Krakow proved that the use of the Chisinau airport was driven solely by the practical logistics of a specific diplomatic tour, rather than a political boycott.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski announced private consultations with Ukraine regarding the possible naming of one of the Special Operations Forces units “Heroes of the UPA.” According to him, this issue is being discussed in a diplomatic format.
Warsaw has reacted to the decision to rename the Ukrainian military unit. This concerns an elite unit of the Special Operations Forces, which, according to reports, was named in honor of the Heroes of the UPA. This has sparked a critical reaction in Polish society and political circles.
