Lithuania has warned that Russia is using Ukrainian drones to carry out attacks in the Baltic states
On August 6, Lithuanian military intelligence stated that Russia may be considering the use of Ukrainian-made drones to attack critical infrastructure in the Baltic states. The agency noted that it has relevant information pointing to such scenarios on Moscow’s part.
As noted, Russia may deploy captured Ukrainian drones in an attempt to create uncertainty regarding the origin of the attack and deny responsibility for strikes on NATO territory.
For his part, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas confirmed this assessment by the intelligence agency.
“We have information that Russia is considering the possibility of carrying out unconventional kinetic attacks against critical infrastructure in the Baltic region. It is likely that Russia could use Ukrainian-made drones for this purpose,” he said.
The minister did not provide details regarding potential targets or the timing of possible attacks.
