Lithuania will receive more than 100 air defense missiles from the United States following the State Department’s approval of the relevant agreement.

The deal involves the potential sale of AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder missiles worth $214 million, along with technical, engineering, and logistical support.
This purchase will supplement a previous contract, and Lithuania is set to receive a total of 168 missiles of this type.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that the new missiles will strengthen the country’s air defense system and enhance NATO’s ability to respond to threats in the airspace.
Sidewinder missiles are compatible with NASAMS systems and are capable of engaging aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles at significant ranges.
