Lithuania denies involvement in drone incident on border with Belarus — LRT
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Rugienė said that the government in Vilnius had not received any official reports about the drone incident, which, according to Minsk, allegedly flew into Belarusian territory.
Ruginenė's statement was reported by LRT.
She emphasised that Lithuanian institutions had not provided her with any information about the country's possible involvement in the incident.
According to the head of government, she currently has no officially confirmed data indicating that Lithuania is in any way connected with the drone flight.
She stressed that she only knows about this incident from public reports, but ‘Lithuania has nothing to do with it.’
Ruginenė added that she had not received any signals from the responsible authorities about any assistance from Lithuania in launching or moving this device.
The Belarusian side claims that the drone violated its airspace, allegedly flying in from the Lazdiya area on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. According to Minsk, the drone flew deep into Belarusian territory and crashed near Grodno.
Official Minsk presents this episode as a potentially dangerous incident, hinting at a possible ‘foreign trace’.
