London is investigating reports regarding the use of U.S. military bases

The UK has launched an investigation following a leak revealing that the U.S. is using British military bases in the war in the Middle East. The government wants to determine who disclosed details of National Security Council discussions, Al Jazeera reports.

A British government security group has launched an official investigation following a leak from National Security Council discussions. A letter from the Cabinet Secretary, published on social media, confirms that the government is seeking to determine the circumstances of the leak and assess whether security procedures were breached.

This leak reportedly concerns statements by Energy Minister Ed Miliband, who, according to sources, called for a ban on the U.S. using British military bases for initial operations against Iran in early March. A Cabinet spokesperson declined to comment on the situation, stating: “At this stage, we have nothing to add to the letter.”

It is currently unknown who exactly disclosed the details of the discussions and what the consequences might be for government officials. The investigation is ongoing, and the government emphasizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality and controlling access to classified information.

This incident highlights the tension in UK-US relations amid the war in the Middle East and the importance of government data security.

Additionally, Trump threatened to shut down media outlets that report inaccurately on the war in Iran.

Norway and Britain plan to jointly purchase up to 30 coast guard vessels — NRK.
