Lukashenko presented Kim Jong-un with an assault rifle and sweets during his visit to North Korea
During his official visit to North Korea, Alexander Lukashenko exchanged gifts with the country’s dictator, Kim Jong-un.
From the North Korean side, the Belarusian leader received a saber, a decorative vase in the national style, and a commemorative gold coin minted to mark the visit.
In return, Lukashenko presented Kim Jong-un with Belarusian food products, including chocolate, marshmallows, and black bread. The most notable gift was a VSK assault rifle, which piqued the North Korean leader’s interest—he examined the weapon and attempted to reload it.
In addition, Lukashenko presented a Slutsk belt as a symbol of Belarus’s cultural heritage. Kim Jong-un’s wife was given a bouquet of cornflowers made of jewelry, and his daughter received an ornate jewelry box.
The two sides also signed a treaty on friendship and cooperation and announced that relations between the countries had moved to a new level.
Recall that Lukashenkoannounced a “major deal” with the U.S. at Trump’s suggestion.
Earlier, the U.S. and Lukashenko agreedon the release of more than 250 Belarusian political prisoners.
