Lukashenko announced a "major deal" with the U.S. at Trump's suggestion

Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that he had received a proposal from the United States to conclude a “major deal” initiated by President Donald Trump.

He announced this during a conversation with journalists.

According to Lukashenko, during the negotiations, the American side presented a proposal for a comprehensive agreement covering several key issues.

These include, in particular, the release of prisoners, the resumption of the U.S. Embassy’s operations in Belarus, and the issue of nuclear materials.

Lukashenko stated that he viewed this initiative positively and is ready to draft a corresponding agreement.

He also added that the Belarusian side has already formulated its own proposals and submitted them to the U.S. for further consideration.

Earlier, the U.S. and Lukashenko agreedon the release of more than 250 Belarusian political prisoners.

Belarusian dictator Lukashenko pardoned 123 prisoners, including Belarusian opposition figure Maria Kolesnikova and human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski.

U.S. Special Representative in Minsk John Cole announced Washington’s decision to lift sanctions previously imposed on Belarusian potash.
