Meloni responded to the insults from Russian propagandist Solovyov
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has responded to the harsh remarks made against her by Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov. The incident occurred during one of his television programs, where offensive statements were made about the Italian head of government.
This was reported by Bild.
During his broadcast, Solovyov used a series of offensive remarks against Meloni, calling her a “fascist creature,” a “monster,” a “complete idiot,” a “mean little woman,” a “disgrace to humanity,” and “trash” who “betrayed Trump.” The culmination of his tirade was the word “PuttaMeloni,” apparently derived from the Italian word “puttana” – “whore.”
Italy’s right-wing government recently reaffirmed its firm support for Ukraine and its provision of military aid to Kyiv. However, the Russian propagandist’s outburst of anger also has personal reasons: he loved spending millions in Italy, where he purchased a luxury property on Lake Como. Yet the Italian government confiscated this villa just a few days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In addition, activists poured red paint into his pool to highlight Solovyov’s complicity in the killings committed by Putin and his army. These images went viral around the world. Solovyov is subject to EU sanctions and is barred from entering the bloc—the luxury lover is now left with only his dacha near Moscow.
Following Solovyov’s scandalous speech, Italy summoned the Russian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry for an explanation. Statements of solidarity with Meloni are coming in from all political camps. She herself commented on the vulgar tirade by Putin’s propagandist with deliberate calm.
“Unlike others, no one pulls our strings; we have no masters, and no one gives us orders. We have only one guiding principle: the interests of Italy,” Meloni wrote on the X platform.
