Minority in Ghana’s parliament awaits notice of MP arrest warrant — MyJoyOnline
The parliamentary minority in Ghana has not yet received formal notice of a High Court warrant that reportedly authorizes the arrest of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah. This was stated by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MyJoyOnline reports.
Awaiting formal notice
According to Annoh-Dompreh, minority members heard about the warrant from various sources, including news reports, but have not been formally informed about the matter. He said the group respects the law and due legal process and will act accordingly if necessary.
The politician also said that the minority would wait for the official procedure before determining its next steps. He added that the group would consider the situation after confirmation that the warrant had indeed been issued by a properly constituted court.

Previous attempt to detain him
Annoh-Dompreh dismissed suggestions that the MP had allegedly sought protection in parliament after an earlier attempt to detain him. According to him, the events near the court and the current warrant process are different situations.
He said he witnessed the events at the court premises and described the previous attempt to detain the MP as unlawful. This is Annoh-Dompreh’s assessment, as cited by MyJoyOnline.
