Merz pointed out the weakest point in Trump's peace plan
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that for any plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war to succeed, the Kremlin must be genuinely willing to negotiate. And if Moscow is not forced to do so, then no peace plans are worth anything.
Mr Merz said this on his X.
Merz noted that it is impossible to end the Russian-Ukrainian war “overnight.”
“The joint peace plan aims to start the process. And for this to happen, Russia must now sit down at the negotiating table. Until there is visible readiness to do so, there will be neither process nor peace,” the German chancellor stated.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also stated that Ukraine cannot be forced to voluntarily give up its own territories and reduce its ability to counter aggression.
