Ghana’s Roads Minister Agbodza urges supervisors to control work quality — MyJoyOnline

In Ghana, Minister for Roads and Highways Governs Kwame Agbodza said that the government will not allow compromises on the quality of work on the Accra–Kumasi bypass road project. He said this to officials overseeing the project’s implementation, reports MyJoyOnline.

Road quality and durability

According to the minister, the government’s priority is not only to complete construction of the road, but also to ensure that the work is carried out to standards that will guarantee its durability.

Agbodza noted that President John Dramani Mahama would not want a project completed under his administration to begin developing potholes and other defects within just a few months.

Responsibility of supervisors

The minister called on regional directors responsible for supervising the project to take their duties seriously and monitor compliance with the required standards throughout construction.

He stressed that responsibility for the quality of the work does not rest solely with the minister. According to him, local officials must carry out monitoring, supervision and certification of the work. Agbodza added that those responsible for supervision and certification must answer for the consequences of improper execution of the work.
