Moldova may face a severe electricity shortage
Moldova’s prime minister stated that on August 6, the country risks facing a significantly larger electricity shortage than the day before. According to him, the situation in the power grid could deteriorate significantly compared to the previous day.
Moreover, according to the head of government, the ability to cover this shortage by purchasing emergency electricity may be limited.
In particular, he noted that the Ukrainian side had reportedly informed its partners in Chisinau that it would be unable to provide emergency power supplies.
“Unfortunately, the situation with power supply looks very bad… Most likely—or very likely—we will not be able to purchase even emergency electricity. So, we won’t even be able to purchase this emergency electricity, which costs two to three times as much. At least, that’s the response we received from Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian side,” Tofan said.
This warning was issued by the country’s Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, as quoted by Agora.
