Moldovan farmers have announced protests at the border with Romania

In Moldova, farmers from the “Farmers’ Power” association have announced that they will continue their protests against the government’s budget and tax policies and plan to gather at two border crossings on the border with Romania.

These are the “Leușen” and “Sculani” border checkpoints, where protesters intend to hold demonstrations on June 25.

Police emphasize that blocking roads and border crossings is illegal and urge travelers to be prepared for possible disruptions.

Previously, farmers had already staged protests involving more than 250 tractors, partially blocking traffic near the “Kagul-Oancha” checkpoint.

The protesters’ main demands are the abolition of the 20% VAT on agricultural products and equipment, as well as compensation for excise taxes on diesel fuel. Protesters are also demanding meetings with the country’s leadership.

This was reported by Newsmaker.

As a reminder, installation work and a temporary reconnection of utility networks will take place at the “Mali Selmentse–Velke Selmentse” checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Slovak border from June 25 to 27.

The “Palanka–Mayaki–Udobne” border crossing on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border has temporarily suspended processing of citizens and vehicles due to a technical malfunction in the border service’s information systems.
