MTN Ghana warns businesses against sharing PINs — MyJoyOnline

MTN Ghana, during a training programme for entrepreneurs in Sunyani, Ghana, urged representatives of small and medium-sized businesses not to share PINs and to treat suspicious codes, links and calls with caution. This was reported by MyJoyOnline.

Eric Antwi, MTN Business regional sales manager for the Northern Business Unit, said entrepreneurs must independently ensure the protection of their digital accounts and mobile money accounts. He stressed that a PIN is unique and should not be disclosed.

Warning about codes and links

Antwi warned about fraudsters who may send messages or codes and ask recipients to enter them on their phones. He urged business owners to be especially attentive to suspicious links, unsolicited requests for codes and calls allegedly made on behalf of MTN.

According to him, protecting digital accounts is becoming increasingly important as small and medium-sized enterprises use financial platforms for transactions, savings and access to loans.

Digital tools for entrepreneurs

During the programme, MTN Business also presented the Adwumapa and YellowBiz digital solutions. The former is intended to support women entrepreneurs through specialised digital services, while YellowBiz helps small businesses establish an online presence, including through websites.

The company selected five small and medium-sized enterprises for further support. They are to undergo additional financial literacy training and receive coaching and mentorship.

Programme participants said the training helped them better understand digital payments, customer relations and team building.
