During the G7 summit held in Evian-les-Bains, France, an unusual video posted on French President Emmanuel Macron’s official page caught the attention of social media users. In the video, the French president greets each of the G7 leaders to a specially selected musical composition.

For European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa, a rock version of the European Union anthem, “Ode to Joy,” was chosen.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s appearance was accompanied by the song “Love Is a Long Road” by American musician Tom Petty. The choice of song sparked lively discussion online, as Trump had previously joked on multiple occasions about Macron’s distinctive way of greeting him with a handshake.

For Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the organizers chose the famous Italian song “Felicità” (“Happiness”), performed by Al Bano and Romina Power.

Japanese politician Sanae Takaichi was greeted with the contemporary Japanese hip-hop track “Arigato” (“Thank You”) by the group Nxnja Beats.

As Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was being welcomed, the song “J’irai où tu iras” (“I’ll Go Where You Go”) by a Canadian singer played, blending a romantic mood with a dynamic sound.

Macron greeted British Prime Minister Keira Starmer to the theme song from the James Bond film *The World Is Not Enough*, which became one of the video’s most memorable moments.

The French side’s unusual approach quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, where users actively analyzed the symbolism and humor in the choice of musical accompaniment for world leaders.

As a reminder, on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz presented U.S. President Donald Trump with a German national team jersey bearing his last name and the number 47.

European officials have expressed concern over possible moves by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the peace process in Russia’s war against Ukraine. The EU fears that, following the easing of tensions surrounding Iran, the White House may take control of the negotiation process.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the negotiating room for the first session of the G7 summit alongside U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron.
