Navrotsky once again explained why he stripped Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle

Navrotsky once again explained why he stripped Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle

Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that Poles fully understand the cost of war and the Russian threat, but the actions of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy have crossed a line for Poles.

According to Nawrocki, Poles know what the struggle for independence and the Russian threat entail, but what Zelenskyy did crossed the “pain threshold.” He said that throughout the 20th century, Poland was free for only 31 years, and for the rest of the time, it resisted the domination of foreign powers.

“We either fought against Soviet troops in 1920, suffered as victims of German and Soviet totalitarianism, or fought against Soviet colonizers from 1945 until 1989... Yes, we know what war is, we know what the struggle for independence is, we know what the post-Soviet—and today, Russian—threat is, but we are the proud Polish people, and we have our own pain threshold when it comes to matters concerning us and our allies. And that pain threshold has been exceeded, which is why I stripped President Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle,” the Polish president explained his decision.

The Polish president made this statement during the commemoration of the National Day of the Silesian Uprisings, according to TVN 24.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent the Order of the White Eagle to Poland via “Nova Poshta.”

The decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the corresponding act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Polish prime minister.

In response to the Polish president’s actions, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that he would return his state award to Poland.

Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov reacted to Polish President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to revoke Poland’s highest state award, the Order of the White Eagle, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He called the Polish leader a liar and a manipulator.

Oleg Tyahnybok, leader of the All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda,” recalled the events in the village of Sahryn—now a village in the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland—where between 600 and 1,240 Ukrainians were killed and tortured in March 1944.
