The Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius has been sent for disinfection due to the hantavirus
No symptoms of hantavirus have been detected so far among the crew members of the cruise ship MV Hondius, which has arrived in the Netherlands.
This was reported by NOS. Despite the absence of clinical symptoms of the disease, after the ship docks at the port, all personnel will undergo repeat medical testing, and the ship itself has been isolated for a comprehensive sanitization.
Experts note that the procedure for complete disinfection and cleaning of the ship to eliminate potential carriers of the infection will take about a week. For this period, a temporary closed compound has been set up for the foreign sailors within the port, consisting of twenty-three modular buildings with adequate living conditions. Two Dutch crew members have been granted permission to undergo quarantine at their place of residence.
Some of the foreign personnel, if their repatriation to their countries of origin cannot be arranged promptly, will remain under strict quarantine supervision until at least June 18. Currently, twenty-three foreign nationals are in isolation, including seventeen from the Philippines, four from Ukraine, and one each from Poland and Russia. All are required to strictly adhere to established anti-epidemic regulations.
