Oman has opened a temporary corridor in the Strait of Hormuz

Oman, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has opened a temporary maritime corridor to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without paying transit fees.

The ministry noted that the decision was made in light of the Strait of Hormuz’s strategic importance to the global economy and the need to ensure freedom of navigation in accordance with international maritime law.

The new route was made possible by agreements reached between the United States and Iran. Vessels planning to use the corridor must coordinate their passage with the International Maritime Organization and adhere to the specified coordinates.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

At the same time, Trump once again repeated the threats he has been making in recent weeks: “If they agree, it’s all over; if not, we’ll bomb them.”

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.
