Orbán assured Putin that he was ready to provide Russia with any assistance — Bloomberg
During a phone call with Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his full support for the Kremlin’s actions and offered his assistance in resolving any issues.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing the official transcript of the conversation prepared by the Hungarian government.
The conversation, which took place on October 17, demonstrated an extremely close relationship between the leaders of the two countries.
Orbán not only wished the Kremlin leader a happy birthday but also emphasized his readiness for maximum collaboration in strengthening Russian influence.
“Our friendship has reached such a high level that I can help in any way. In any matter where I can be of use, I am at your service,” Bloomberg quotes the Hungarian prime minister as saying.
During the conversation, Orbán used a metaphor, recalling the well-known fable about a mouse that saved a lion from a trap after the lion spared its life. This analogy elicited considerable laughter from Putin, as noted in the report on the talks.
A significant portion of the conversation was devoted to discussing a figure admired by both leaders: U.S. President Donald Trump.
The politicians did not hide their positive attitude toward the American leader’s management methods and political style.
Viktor Orbán praised the “tornado-like” approach that U.S. President Donald Trump demonstrates in conducting affairs. In turn, Putin agreed with this characterization, adding his own comparison regarding the working style of his colleague in Washington.
“As they say, he moves forward like a tank. It works for him, and one can only be glad about that,” Putin noted in his conversation with Orbán.
Both interlocutors expressed hope for further cooperation with the U.S. administration in a trilateral format.
In addition, Putin spoke favorably of Hungary’s “independent and flexible” stance regarding the war against Ukraine.
He emphasized that he appreciates Budapest’s refusal to follow the pan-European course on military support for Kyiv.
As a reminder, despite Orbán’s opposition, Ukraine will receive 90 billion: MPA President Galina Heilo on the EU’s plans to finance the country.
Balázs Orbán, political director to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, assured that Ukraine does not pose a military threat to his country.
