Pope Leo XIV set out on his third apostolic journey to Africa

Pope Leo XIV has begun his third apostolic journey, during which he will visit four African countries—Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.

This was reported by Vatican News.

On Monday, April 13, the pontiff flew from Rome to Algeria, where he was met by the country’s president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The ceremony included military honors, the playing of national anthems, and an official meeting of the delegations.

Upon arrival, the Pope visited the Memorial to the Martyrs of the War of Independence, where he delivered his first speech.

In it, he emphasized that true peace is impossible without forgiveness and justice.

The apostolic journey will last until April 23 and will be the third for Pope Leo XIV during his pontificate.
