Karapetyan's party is demanding that the results of the Armenian election be annulled

The “Strong Armenia” party, which is linked to Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, has appealed to the Central Election Commission demanding that the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 7 be annulled.

Representatives of the political party allege widespread violations during the electoral process, which, in their view, cast doubt on the legitimacy of the election results.

According to party representative Aram Vardevanyan, materials detailing violations recorded both during voting and in the run-up to the election have been submitted to the CEC.

“I think many people are watching and will continue to watch everything that is happening in the post-election process in Armenia. What is happening now has no place in a democratic society,” Vardevanyan said.

According to the results of the vote, “Strong Armenia” received 23.2% of the vote, advocating for the preservation of close relations with Russia.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s “Civic Contract” party won the election, garnering 49.8% of the vote. Pashinyan’s political force continues to pursue a course of deepening cooperation with Western partners and rapprochement with the European Union.

Commenting on the election results, Pashinyan called them historic.

“A historic victory that will unequivocally ensure the permanence and development of the Republic of Armenia,” the prime minister emphasized.

The elections took place amid growing tensions in relations between Armenia and Russia, which criticizes Yerevan’s foreign policy course of rapprochement with the West.

Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission continues to tally the votes. Yesterday, it was reported that the results at two polling stations were invalidated due to documented violations involving military personnel after voting had concluded.

The final results of the parliamentary elections in Armenia are expected in the coming days.

This was reported by Armenpress.

U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his political party’s victory in the parliamentary elections. The congratulations referred to the success of the party led by Armenia’s current head of government based on the election results.

The parliamentary elections in Armenia ended with a victory for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s “Civic Contract” party, confirming the country’s course toward further rapprochement with the European Union. At the same time, the election results have sparked discussions regarding the democratic nature of the electoral process and Brussels’ reaction to the reported violations.
