The Pentagon has identified targets for potential new U.S. strikes on Iran — CNN

The Pentagon has prepared several military scenarios regarding Iran in case U.S. President Donald Trump decides to resume attacks.

According to the network, on May 16, Trump held a meeting with key members of his national security team to discuss next steps regarding Iran.

The meeting, which took place at Trump’s golf club in Virginia, was attended by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

As CNN notes, Trump is increasingly frustrated with the progress of negotiations with Tehran, as well as the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is affecting global oil prices.

According to sources, the U.S. administration has postponed a decision on further actions until the conclusion of Trump’s visit to China and his talks with Xi Jinping.

According to CNN, the Pentagon has already prepared a list of potential targets for possible strikes, including energy and infrastructure facilities in Iran.

Trump is expected to consult again with his national security team this week regarding the next steps.

The U.S. has demanded that Iran hand over its enriched uranium.
