"Ukraine's victory is in Turkey's national interest," says former diplomat Litvinenko
On September 12, the former diplomat stated that Turkey is also feeling the negative effects of Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to her, Ukraine’s victory will contribute to Turkey’s security and economic stability.
“A Ukrainian victory will undoubtedly contribute to stability—both in terms of security and the economy—and, consequently, to Turkey’s sustainable development,” Litvinenko noted.
She added that Turkey is also suffering negative consequences from Russia’s war against Ukraine, particularly due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace, a decline in tourist traffic from Ukraine, and shipping issues.
“Profit and stability are arguments that can also be persuasive to Turkish society. When the war ends, Turkish businesses will once again be able to operate unhindered in Ukraine and with Ukraine at full capacity,” the former diplomat believes.
In her view, many Turkish companies plan to actively participate in Ukraine’s postwar reconstruction. At the same time, not all businesspeople realize that their current cooperation with Russia could affect their future opportunities to operate in the Ukrainian market.
Speaking about Turkish society’s attitude toward the war, the writer also noted that Turks understand who the aggressor is, view attacks on the civilian population negatively, and are becoming increasingly interested in Ukraine’s history and culture.

As a reminder, Lavrov stated that Russia will not end the war for the sake of negotiations with Ukraine.
