In the United States, American singer and actor Pat Boone called on President Donald Trump to talk less, listen more, and emulate the style of former President Ronald Reagan. In a social media post published on Saturday, the longtime Trump supporter said he was expressing this view in a spirit of friendship and concern, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Boone, who was one of the prominent American pop performers of the 1950s and 1960s, stressed that a leader's strength sometimes lies in restraint. He advised Trump to let his actions speak for themselves and cited Reagan as an example, highlighting humor, courtesy, respect, and a presidential manner even in difficult times.
Support for Trump and criticism of rhetoric
Boone supported Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and recorded automated phone messages for Christian voters and senior citizens in the final days before the vote. In a 2022 interview with The Daily Beast, he said that he voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020.

At the same time, this is not the singer's first criticism of Trump's rhetoric. Boone said that during the 2016 campaign, he personally asked the politician not to use insulting nicknames and not to behave like a schoolyard bully, as he considered this to be unpresidential behavior. In the 1980s, Boone took part in political events and White House gatherings together with Reagan. According to the Reagan Presidential Library, he attended a charity reception in Washington in 1982, a Republican rally in Illinois that same year, and the National Religious Broadcasters convention in 1984.
Boone's post appeared the day after Trump announced a ban on CNN, MS NOW, and Politico working at the White House. The president accused these media outlets of spreading what he called fake news, fabrications, and lies, and said that other outlets could also face similar restrictions. Boone did not directly link his statement to this decision.
