Dutch police disperse far-right demonstration in The Hague — Anadolu Agency
In The Hague, Netherlands, police dispersed a demonstration by the far-right group Wij Zijn Het Volk after its participants began throwing fireworks and other objects at law enforcement officers. Anadolu Agency reports, citing Dutch broadcaster NOS.
Event stopped due to violence
The municipality of The Hague said the demonstration on Malieveld was stopped because of ongoing violence. Protesters were escorted out of the event area. An emergency order was also issued for part of The Hague, allowing police to remove from the area people causing public-order disturbances.
Earlier that day, authorities banned a planned march through the streets of The Hague, citing public-order disturbances, violence against police officers and the continued presence of people with covered faces. An unknown number of participants were detained.

Police used a water cannon
After the march was banned, a separate demonstration was allowed to continue on Malieveld. However, participants continued throwing fireworks, sticks and smoke bombs, after which police used a water cannon. Several hundred demonstrators were present at the site early in the afternoon.
Dutch Minister of Justice and Security David van Weel condemned the incidents in a post on social media platform X. According to him, there were Hitler salutes, antisemitic slogans, violence against police and fireworks thrown at police officers during the event. The demonstration took place a year after a protest at the same location that also turned violent.
