Poland has received preliminary approval from the U.S. to manufacture missiles for the Patriot system

Poland has received preliminary approval from the U.S. State Department to localize the production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems on its territory.

This was announced by Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk.

According to him, the missiles are planned to be manufactured at facilities within Poland’s defense-industrial complex, which will be an important step toward strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

Tomczyk noted that Warsaw has long sought to establish production of components and service facilities for foreign-purchased weapons specifically in Poland.

This specifically concerns the PAC-3 MSE missiles—the most advanced variant of the Patriot system. Currently, the U.S. produces about 700 such missiles per year and plans to increase production to 2,000 by 2030.

According to the Polish official, Washington was previously skeptical about transferring such production capabilities, but its position has now changed.

Poland already has two Patriot batteries and is awaiting the delivery of six more.

The U.S. will provide Poland with a $2 billion loan to purchase weapons: F-35 fighter jets, Patriot air defense systems, and Abrams tanks.

Earlier, Poland signed an agreement with the U.S. for the delivery of 96 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters, along with a logistics and training package, for a total cost of $10 billion.
