Poland will warn its citizens when fighter jets are scrambled during Russian attacks on Ukraine
During Russian attacks on Ukraine, Polish citizens will receive SMS alerts about the country’s combat aircraft taking off. In this way, Polish authorities plan to provide the public with additional information amid the threat posed by Russian strikes on Ukraine.
On July 30, during a massive Russian strike on western Ukraine, a cruise missile entered Polish airspace. The military response system reacted appropriately, according to an official.
However, the civilian alert system did not activate during the incident. Therefore, work is currently underway to improve it.
Today, according to Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarniecka, the Government Security Center and the Ministry of the Interior are drawing conclusions from this experience.
The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces and the Armed Forces Operational Command are participating in discussions with the Government Security Council. The goal, she noted, is to “further secure the entire system.”
Sobkowiak-Czarniecka stated that citizens will now also receive SMS alerts about dangerous situations still occurring within Ukraine.
“If our soldiers come under attack, we will provide even more information using the Government Security Center’s system,” she said, according to RMF24.
As a reminder, in the Polish city of Gdynia, law enforcement officers detained a 76-year-old Polish citizen who brutally attacked a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman. According to the investigation, the man beat the woman with a stick, after which he was detained by criminal investigators from the local police department.
In the city of Kozhukhiv (Lubusz Voivodeship), on the evening of August 1, three Ukrainian citizens—37-year-old Volodymyr, 32-year-old Vasyl, and 28-year-old Adelina—were attacked. The incident took place on the private grounds of the hostel where the victims were staying.
