Poland will temporarily restrict air traffic along its borders with Ukraine and Belarus
Temporary air traffic restrictions are being imposed in eastern Poland along the borders with Ukraine and Belarus.
The decision was made at the request of the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command due to the need to strengthen national security measures.
The restrictions will be in effect from June 10 to September 9, 2026, and will cover the entire border zone in the east of the country.
According to a PANSA report:
- restrictions are being imposed in the airspace along the borders with Belarus and Ukraine;
- passenger aviation is not subject to the restrictions;
- civilian aircraft are permitted to fly at altitudes above 3 km.
At the same time, the specific reasons for implementing these measures have not been officially disclosed, though the Polish side directly links the decision to the need to ensure security on the country’s eastern flank.
Thus, Poland is tightening control over airspace in border regions amid the overall security situation in the region.
This was reported by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA).
On the night of June 2, amid another massive strike by Russian forces on civilian and critical infrastructure in Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces urgently scrambled their combat aircraft.
