For the third day in a row, Poland has scrambled fighter jets in response to Russian aircraft
For the third day in a row, the Polish military has been forced to scramble fighter jets due to the activity of Russian military aircraft near the country’s airspace. This was reported by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to him, fighter jets were scrambled each time to intercept and monitor the situation due to the actions of Russian aircraft. The Polish side continues to closely monitor the situation and maintains a heightened state of readiness for its air defense forces.
The minister reported that the Russians were once again testing the capabilities of Poland’s air defense systems.
"Another pair of Polish fighter jets from Malbork intercepted two Russian Su-30s over the Baltic Sea. After completing this operation, our crews were redirected to conduct an additional interception of a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft located 30 km north of Jastrzębia Góra,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
After the Polish escort ended, Swedish aircraft continued to escort the Russian plane.
In both cases, Koiniak-Kamysz noted, no violation of Polish airspace was recorded.
The Polish minister wrote about this on social media.
As a reminder, Poland is once again not involved in key negotiations regarding Ukraine—TVP World.
The U.S. will provide Poland with a $2 billion loan to purchase weapons: F-35 fighter jets, Patriot air defense missile systems, and Abrams tanks.
Earlier, Poland signed an agreement with the U.S. for the delivery of 96 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters, along with a logistics and training package, for a total of $10 billion.
