Poland is closing its borders with the EU due to provocations by Russia and Belarus

Poland has decided to extend temporary border controls at its borders with Germany and Lithuania until October 1, 2026.

This was reported by Polish Radio.

The decision is explained by the threat of a hybrid migration attack, which, according to Warsaw’s assessment, is being organized by the regimes of Russia and Belarus.

Checks will be conducted at 63 checkpoints: 50 on the border with Germany and 13 with Lithuania. Border guards, police, and territorial defense forces are involved in the patrols.

In particular, controls have been tightened in the area of Muzhakovsky Park to prevent possible infiltration via pedestrian and bicycle routes.

The Polish Ministry of the Interior emphasizes that artificially created migration flows pose a serious threat to security and public order.

For travelers, this means possible document checks and delays at the border, especially during peak travel periods.

As a reminder, Poland will continue the SAFE program despite the president’s veto.

Poland will also not send troops to Iran via the Strait of Hormuz.
