Poland has proposed establishing a new permanent U.S. military base on its territory. This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who noted that the proposal had been submitted to the head of the Pentagon.
The minister noted that U.S. involvement in ensuring Poland’s security is not diminishing—on the contrary, it may even increase.
"I have submitted an official proposal to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagset regarding the establishment of a new permanent U.S. military base in Poland. A secure Poland means a strong army, a strong society, and strong alliances,” Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.
The presence of U.S. military bases in Poland is the result of cooperation within NATO and bilateral agreements between Poland and the United States. Formally, there are no classic independent U.S. military bases in Poland, similar to those located in Germany or Italy; however, the presence of U.S. troops in Poland has been significant for many years.
