More than 50,000 homes in France were left without power due to the heat and power outages

In France, on the evening of June 25, more than 50,000 households were left without power amid extreme heat and increased strain on the power grid.

The electricity distribution operator Enedis reported that rapid-response teams were deployed to address outages caused by the high temperatures.

As of 7:00 p.m., approximately 50,000 customers in various regions of the country remained without power. In most cases, these were localized outages that were expected to be resolved within a few hours.

A few brief outages were also reported in Paris, but power was quickly restored there.

The utility explained that the prolonged extreme heat, with nighttime temperatures exceeding 25°C, is causing the ground to overheat to 80°C, which puts additional strain on underground cable networks, especially in large cities.

Utility officials warn that the risk of further outages remains as long as high temperatures persist.

This was reported by Le Figaro.

The extreme heat that swept across Spain in late June may have caused at least 212 deaths in just four days.

In Italy, five people have died over the past day due to the extreme heat, and air temperatures in many regions of the country have reached +41°C.

The abnormal heat in Europe has led to at least 18 deaths.

France has faced power outages amid a record-breaking heat wave that has swept across much of Western Europe. Several regions have reported power outages, as well as the imposition of emergency restrictions and the temporary closure of educational institutions.
