More than 600 Russians are stranded at Hanoi Airport due to flight cancellations
More than 600 Russian tourists are stranded in Vietnam after Vietnam Airlines canceled its flights to Moscow. Passengers on Flight VN63 have been unable to fly to Russia for two days now, according to Russian media reports citing the tourists.
The Hanoi–Moscow flight was scheduled to depart on September 6 but was canceled. Passengers were rebooked onto the next flight on September 7, but after checking in and passing through passport control, they were again informed of the cancellation. According to the tourists, airline representatives did not provide clear explanations and told people to leave the airport.
Officially, Vietnam Airlines cited technical issues as the reason for the cancellation. At the same time, Russian passengers and media outlets link the situation to possible difficulties with aviation insurance and increased security risks on flights to Russia.
According to flight-tracking services, flight VN63 was indeed canceled on September 6, and its departure was initially rescheduled for September 7. However, the schedule changed again throughout the day.
As a reminder, the airport and gas stations in Sochi were closed due to the threat of a drone attack.

In Sochi, Russia, a drone attack on the seaport was reported. Local residents reported loud explosions in the city center, after which people were urged to leave the port area.
On the night of September 2, the Moscow Region of Russia came under a massive drone attack. According to the region’s governor, Andrei Vorobyov, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 56 drones over the region.
