Finnish Prime Minister: Drones that crashed in the country are likely Ukrainian
Two drones, believed to belong to Ukraine, crashed in Finland on Sunday.
This was announced by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, according to Yle.
The head of government said that the military and various authorities are investigating the incident and will provide full details later.
“This violation of territorial airspace is a very serious matter. These are likely Ukrainian drones, but the matter is under investigation and will be reported on later. We will draw conclusions once the full picture of the situation becomes clear. This is an undesirable situation,” Orpo stated.
The official added that Finland did not shoot down the drones; they crashed on their own. The possibility of holding a joint meeting of the president and the government regarding this incident is currently being considered.
Several unidentified drones violated Finnish airspace and crashed on its territory.
As a reminder, Finland has deported a record number of Russians.
Finland is also making it harder to obtain a permanent residence permit.
