Prime Minister Netanyahu threatens more killings in Gaza — Anadolu Agency
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened further targeted killings in the Gaza Strip and said he would not allow Hamas to govern the enclave. He said this on October 5 during a ceremony at the Mount Herzl cemetery in West Jerusalem, Anadolu Agency reports.
“We still have tasks ahead of us, and we are determined to complete them,” Netanyahu said. His speech came three years after the start of the war in Gaza.
Operations in Gaza
According to the agency, since the start of the war, the Israeli army has killed hundreds of Hamas leaders in the occupied Palestinian territories and beyond them. Civilians were also killed during these operations.

According to Palestinian data, since October 2023, more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 175,000 injured as a result of the war in Gaza. The same data indicate that about 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been destroyed.
Warning ahead of elections
Israeli President Isaac Herzog meanwhile warned of growing divisions in society ahead of the parliamentary elections on October 27. “We must also confront what is happening to us in our own home,” he said.
Herzog called for attention to “warning signs” that, he said, point to dangerous disputes and deep division. The upcoming vote will be Israel’s first general election since the start of the war in Gaza. Opposition parties have stepped up coordination, seeking to change Netanyahu’s government through elections.
