Singapore PM Wong urges against normalizing anti-Indian prejudice
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said the country must never allow prejudice against any community to become acceptable or normalized. He said this on September 6 after racist and xenophobic comments appeared online in connection with a disaster caused by flash floods in Nepal and Tibet and the partnership between Singapore Airlines and Air India.
Comments about missing Singaporeans
According to The Hindu International, racist comments targeted some of the nine Singaporeans who went missing during the disaster in Nepal and Tibet. Wong also said that discussions about Singapore Airlines' investment in Air India were accompanied by anti-Indian insults.

Call for discussions without hostility
Channel News Asia, citing The Hindu, reported that Wong stressed that society can and should have vigorous discussions. At the same time, he said, arguments that appear legitimate should not be used as a cover for stirring up prejudice against any community or hostility toward foreigners.
