President Erdoğan says Türkiye is ready to support peace in Ukraine — Anadolu Agency

In Türkiye, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Ankara is ready to do everything possible to ensure that the war of the Russian Federation — the aggressor state — against Ukraine ends in lasting peace.

Meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly

The meeting took place at the Turkish House, Turkevi, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The presidents discussed bilateral relations, Russia’s war against Ukraine and regional issues.

As Anadolu Agency reports, citing Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan also said that efforts to reinvigorate direct negotiations would continue.

Navigation safety in the Black Sea

The Turkish president stressed the need to take measures to guarantee the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. He noted that attacks on merchant vessels cannot be justified and that Türkiye expects responsible behavior from the parties involved.

Erdoğan also told Zelenskyy that Ankara would continue to strengthen relations with Ukraine. In his opinion, expanding cooperation in energy, mining and the defense industry would benefit both countries.
