Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa may visit Ankara during the NATO summit. According to sources, his visit will not be an official part of the event, but it will provide an opportunity to hold informal meetings with the leaders of NATO member countries.
It is expected that regional security, the fight against terrorism, and Syria’s recovery following years of war may be discussed during any potential talks.
Following the change of power in Syria at the end of 2024, the West has been attempting to establish contacts with the country’s new leadership and limit the influence of Russia and Iran in the region.
