President Trump links protests in France to migration — NDTV World

US President Donald Trump linked mass student protests in France to uncontrolled migration and Islam. In a post on Truth Social, he said that the events in the country were allegedly unrelated to schools. NDTV World reports.

Trump’s statement

Trump claimed that the French protests were a consequence of mass migration and what he described as Islam’s desire to take control of the country. According to the outlet, Trump and his administration have previously repeatedly linked social problems in Europe to migration, called on European countries to close their borders, and echoed far-right parties’ rhetoric about civilizational decline.

Student actions

Since the end of September, French students have been blocking entrances to hundreds of high schools across the country, demanding improved learning conditions. The protests have at times been accompanied by clashes with security forces. On Tuesday, about 250,000 demonstrators took to the streets of France.

Representatives of the Make America Great Again movement shared videos of French unrest, using them for discussions about migration ahead of the US midterm elections, which are due to take place next month.
