For the second time this week, Putin has stated his readiness to negotiate on Ukraine
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is ready to resume negotiations with the United States on ending the war in Ukraine. According to him, Moscow is awaiting a visit from representatives of the U.S. administration, with whom meetings have already taken place, and is ready to continue discussions on possible paths to a settlement.
Putin also noted that no concrete agreements were reached during the summit with U.S. President Donald Trump in Anchorage. At the same time, he said, the sides discussed possible compromises and options for ending the war.
This is the Russian president’s second statement in the past week expressing a willingness to negotiate. It came amid fuel shortages in Russia, which arose following a series of strikes by Ukrainian drones on oil refineries.
Putin also stated that Ukraine had allegedly proposed refraining from long-range strikes on each other’s territories and limiting hostilities to specific regions. According to him, Moscow does not agree to such conditions, as it believes this could give the Ukrainian army an advantage.
At the same time, the Russian president acknowledged that attacks on Russian infrastructure are causing fuel supply problems, though he assured that damaged facilities are quickly resuming operations.
In 2026, the Ukrainian Armed Forces significantly intensified their strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. According to Bloomberg, a record 30 attacks were carried out in May alone, leading to the lowest oil refining volumes in Russia in more than two decades and fuel shortages in many regions of the country.
This is reported by Russian propaganda media.
As a reminder, Putin did not entrust Medvedev with leading the ruling party into the elections.
During a speech at the United Russia party congress, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin delivered yet another round of propaganda claims regarding the war in Ukraine and the domestic political situation in Russia. The Kremlin leader assured those present that the situation currently remains completely “under control” and that Western countries are incapable of defeating Russia on the battlefield.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed Putin’s statements and cited the actual losses suffered by Russia.
