Russia will stop publishing weekly data on fuel prices

The Russian government has changed its procedure for publishing statistics, as a result of which Rosstat will no longer release weekly data on gasoline and diesel fuel prices.

Information on fuel prices by region and brand will no longer be publicly available. Previously, Rosstat published such reports every Wednesday.

It was precisely this data that allowed independent journalists to document sharp increases in fuel prices. In particular, it was previously reported that the highest prices were in occupied Crimea, Tyva, as well as in the Far East and the North Caucasus.

Following inspections in May, the two largest payment terminal networks—EasyPay (LLC “FC ‘Kontraktovy Dom’”) and City24 (LLC “Swift Garant”)—were hit with massive fines: 135 million hryvnias each.
