Sandu called for tougher sanctions against Russia following the attack on Ukraine
Against the backdrop of a massive Russian airstrike on Ukraine, Moldovan President Maia Sandu called for tougher sanctions against Russia.
She wrote about this on social media.
Sandu expressed her condolences to all those affected by the Russian attack.
"What is needed now is greater European unity, greater support for Ukraine, and more sanctions against Russia—because this war will end when Russia stops," the president wrote.
According to the latest information, 16 people were killed and dozens more were injured as a result of Russian strikes on various Ukrainian cities on April 15-16.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga urged the international community not to grow accustomed to the constant civilian casualties in Ukraine caused by Russian strikes and to increase pressure on Moscow.
The Ukrainian foreign minister also reiterated his call to countries that have not yet done so to express their readiness to join the agreement on establishing a Special Tribunal on Russia’s crime of aggression.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, three people were killed and 34 injured due to a massive Russian attack.
The approximate flight paths of the missiles and drones used in Russia’s combined attack on Ukraine have been released.
Over the past 24 hours, from 7:00 a.m. on April 15 to 7:00 a.m. on April 16, Ukraine’s air defense forces neutralized 667 aerial targets used by Russia to attack the country’s territory.
The death toll in Dnipro has risen following a nighttime attack by Russian forces. As of now, two people are known to have been killed and 27 wounded.
