Saudi Arabia says it will continue to defend its sovereignty
In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet said the country will continue to defend its sovereignty, the security of its citizens and residents, as well as national assets. The government meeting was chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
As Asharq Al-Awsat reports, after reviewing the latest regional developments, the Saudi Cabinet said that the Houthi group had carried out attacks on civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran. The government also said that the Houthis continue to attack commercial vessels in the Red Sea and pose a threat to freedom of international navigation.
Assistance for the injured
The Cabinet instructed that the highest level of medical assistance and care be provided to those injured in the attacks, which it described as terrorist attacks. Saudi authorities also characterized the Houthis’ actions as hostile and criminal.

During the meeting, Mohammed bin Salman informed the government about consultations and negotiations with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. According to the Cabinet, the sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in various areas.
Regional issues and cooperation
The Saudi Cabinet expressed support for joint Arab efforts to stop Israeli violations and attacks on Jerusalem and the occupied territories. The government also welcomed a memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Germany on establishing a strategic dialogue and strengthening consultations and coordination.
Separately, the Cabinet noted the results of the LEAP 2026 technology conference. According to it, initiatives were launched, agreements were concluded, and investments of nearly $15 billion were announced during the event in artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centers, cloud computing, technology manufacturing, and the development of national capabilities.
