The U.S. Senate Rejected a Bill to Limit Trump's Military Powers in Iran — CBS

The U.S. Senate rejected a resolution on war powers that was intended to limit U.S. President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct further military operations against Iran.

CBS News reports this.

The decision was made during a vote in which a majority of senators opposed imposing such restrictions on the president’s actions.

The document failed to gain support among lawmakers: 52 senators voted against it, while 47 supported the initiative.

The vote was largely along party lines, highlighting a deep divide in views on foreign policy.

Interestingly, only one Republican, Rand Paul, went against his party’s line and voted in favor of the document.

At the same time, there was no complete unity among Democrats either—Senator John Fetterman was the only member of his caucus to oppose the resolution.

The resolution was authored by Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth.

She proposed requiring the U.S. president to withdraw American forces from combat operations against Iran unless Congress grants special authorization or officially declares war.

“We cannot allow this chaos to continue unchecked. As our troops continue to sacrifice everything that is asked of them, we senators must do the absolute minimum that is asked of us,” Tammy Duckworth emphasized during her speech.
