US Senate Passes Resolution to Rein in Trump on Venezuela
The US Senate voted 52–47 to pass a War Powers resolution aimed at restricting President Donald Trump’s ability to carry out further military action in Venezuela without congressional approval.
The measure must still be approved by the House of Representatives and could be vetoed by the president, limiting its immediate legal impact.
Despite this, the vote carries strong symbolic weight. Five Republican senators broke with their party to support the resolution alongside Democrats, signalling concern over unilateral military decisions by the executive branch.
