Ryanair has warned of long lines at European airports due to the new EU screening system
The Irish airline Ryanair has warned passengers of possible long lines at passport control at 16 popular European airports due to the implementation of the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES).
According to the airline, delays are possible at the airports in Lisbon, Tenerife South, Madrid, Lanzarote, Alicante, Málaga, Milan-Bergamo, Milan-Malpensa, Verona, Paris-Beauvais, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt-Hahn, Kraków, and Budapest.
Ryanair’s Chief Operating Officer, Neil McMahon, criticized the new EES system, stating that it is still not functioning properly.
“The reality is that the EES system is not working properly, and families are being forced to pay the price for a system that still isn’t functioning even several months after its launch. Passengers should not be used as guinea pigs for an underdeveloped border infrastructure,” McMahon said.
Ryanair advises passengers departing from these airports to arrive at the terminals early to avoid the risk of missing their flights.

As a reminder, a Ryanair passenger plane flying from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Munich was forced to return to its departure airport due to a serious technical problem.
