Shin Bet files complaint against TV channel over report on PM Netanyahu’s visit to UAE — Dawn
In Israel, the domestic security service Shin Bet filed a complaint against Channel 12 over its report about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alleged visit to the United Arab Emirates. This was stated by the prime minister’s office, which oversees the service, Dawn reports.
Complaint over disclosure of trip
According to Netanyahu’s office, Shin Bet appealed to the chief military censor and demanded that Channel 12 be held accountable for a serious violation of censorship rules. The prime minister’s office said that publishing the information had put the lives of Netanyahu, his wife and members of the delegation at risk, including the head of the Mossad intelligence service and other senior security officials.
The Israeli prime minister’s office noted that information about the trip became public while Netanyahu’s plane was still outside Israeli airspace. Mossad also condemned the publication, the prime minister’s office said.

Report on meeting in the UAE
On Sunday, Channel 12 and other Israeli media reported that Netanyahu had visited the UAE to meet with the country’s president, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. At the same time, neither Israel nor the UAE officially confirmed the trip. The prime minister’s office statement was Israel’s first public acknowledgement concerning the reported visit, although it did not name the UAE.
Several weeks earlier, Israeli media reported that the UAE president had allegedly warned Netanyahu about the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, and that the Israeli prime minister had not passed this information to the security services. Netanyahu denied these claims. According to Israeli media, during the reported trip he was expected to ask Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to refute the information about such a warning.
Israel and the UAE officially established diplomatic relations in 2020 under the US-brokered Abraham Accords.
