Six countries are ready to resume shipping through the Strait of Hormuz

The United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan have declared their readiness to contribute to ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders of these countries, published on the British government’s website.

The joint statement does not specify exactly how the countries will contribute to the resumption of shipping through the strait.

Additionally, they condemn Iran’s attacks on civilian targets and commercial vessels and call for an immediate cessation of these actions.

"In accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817, we emphasize that such interference with international shipping and disruption of global energy supply chains pose a threat to international peace and security. In this regard, we call for an immediate and comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities,” the statement reads.

Additionally, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan expressed their readiness to take measures to stabilize energy markets, including cooperation with certain producer countries to increase production.

The U.S. destroyed Iran’s fortifiedmissile sites near the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, about 20,000 sailors are stranded due to the conflict around the Strait of Hormuz.

Thousands of ships have also come to a standstill near the Strait of Hormuz.
