PRESEC-Legon school in Ghana wins ninth NSMQ title

In Ghana, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School in Legon, known as PRESEC-Legon, won the final of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz and claimed its ninth title in the competition. The school finished the final with 40 points, ahead of Accra Academy, which scored 33 points, and St Augustine’s College with 27 points.

Trailing after the start

According to MyJoyOnline, after the first round PRESEC had nine points and trailed its two rivals: St Augustine’s College and Accra Academy each had 11 points. In the second round, PRESEC added eight points and drew level with St Augustine’s College at 17 points each. Accra Academy had 14 points at that stage.

How the final unfolded

The third round, Problem of the Day, proved decisive: PRESEC earned another four points and moved into the lead with 21 points. St Augustine’s College remained on 17 points, while Accra Academy had 14.

In the fourth round, Accra Academy reached 30 points, while St Augustine’s College had 27. PRESEC increased its score to 34. In the final round, PRESEC added six points and finished the competition with 40 points. The school marked its ninth trophy with the name ADO9, combining the word Adonai and the number nine.
