Sweden summoned a Russian diplomat over the attacks on Ukraine

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires to express its protest over Russia’s large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population and infrastructure.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that strikes on civilian targets are unacceptable and called on Russia to cease its aggressive actions against Ukraine.

As noted, the Swedish government “condemns Russia’s reckless attacks,” which recently damaged the Lithuanian Embassy in Kyiv and the Latvian Honorary Consulate in Sloviansk, according to the report.

“We have also seen how Russian attacks have damaged diplomatic missions and led to violations of allied countries’ airspace. Russia’s violations of international humanitarian law cannot be tolerated under any circumstances, regardless of how long the war lasts,” said Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard in a written comment to the TT news agency (Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå).

This was reported by the Sweden Herald.

The Swedish foreign minister emphasized that support for Ukraine is key to European security.

Stockholm has officially expressed its readiness to facilitate the opening of the first round of integration talks as early as May, with the remaining five rounds to follow within the next month.

The EU should open the first negotiation cluster with Ukraine as soon as possible, says Koshta.

Hungary’s future Prime Minister Péter Magyar held talks with representatives of the European Union. The parties discussed the prospects for opening negotiation clusters as part of Ukraine’s EU accession process.
